Don't get me wrong -- getting traffic to your website is extremely important.  However if you don't have a website that converts, then it doesn't matter how much traffic you acquire.

I once built a blog in a popular niche that was getting tons of traffic each day, but my conversion rate was dismal.  No one was clicking on the ads or affiliate links.  I tried changing my Wordpress theme, getting a new logo designed -- the same thing most bloggers would do -- but I still didn't see much improvement.

I soon realized that success in blogging had much less to do with getting lots of traffic and more to do with conversions.  It's better to have 100 quality visitors to your blog per day than to have 1000-2000/day with a very poor conversion rate.  

I stopped focusing on the "numbers" and instead started to focus on more improving the quality of my website then I did acquiring more traffic.  I focused more on understanding my niche, my audience, and creating compelling content that lead to more revenue.

Tip #2: Build a blog that has a conversion first focus.  This way you'll generate more leads for your business without having to throw a lot of money on Paid Ads, Social Media and SEO.

When the bloggers I do work on "conversions", then they'll usually focus on the wrong things that don't truly move the needle (i.e changing their website theme, designing another logo).

Unless your website is completely outdated, there's no point in focusing on this.  You can always go back to it later if it truly makes sense for your brand.

What I mean by conversions isn't about redesigning your website or getting a better logo.  It isn't necessarily about creating more content and blog posts.

Conversions is about moving your prospect to take action -- clicking a link, signing up for your newsletter or lead magnets, opening your emails, sharing your content on social media, purchasing your products and so on.

I didn't understand this before.  I spent way too much time focusing on things that didn't focus on these things.  And as a result, I didn't get any leads for my business.

I've got an answer that works.

When I first started blogging, I didn't know much about it other than how to write and publish a blog post.

I bought every online marketing and business course I could get my hands on.  

I first started blogging in 2007.  It was on a platform called blogger.com and I didn't know much about it other than how to write and publish a blog post.

My blog started generating some traffic but not as much as I'd liked.  I then found an advertising network called Google Adsense and placed some ads on the site.

I didn't generate much traffic 

Instead, tell a story. Write about how things feel. Write about problems, frustrations, experiences, triumphs. Think about a movie or TV series - it's all about the characters and how much you care about them. And you only care about them if you can relate to them.

​Trying to sell too soon is the most commonly made mistake - not only on long form sales pages. Even if your page is short and visual, without relating to your customer, you can't make sales.

Also remember that what you're looking at is only a template. Maybe you want to spend more time on the story.
